Highsnobiety Joins Jury for EyeEm’s 2018 Photography Awards

Submissions for 2018's EyeEm Awards are officially open, and we're delighted to announce that this year, Highsnobiety will be presenting the Street Photographer category. And not only that, our image director Nik Schulte will be sitting on the jury alongside adidas global creative concept and storytelling director José Cabaço, ArchDaily founder and editor-in-chief David Basulto, and many distinguished others.
This is the fifth EyeEm Awards, the world's largest photography competition, with the aim as ever to discover the brightest new visual talents. This year, EyeEm is on the hunt for budding photographers in nine different categories — like Street Photography, for example, which you can submit to here — with those who come out on top winning photography equipment to support their talent. The best submissions among those shortlisted will be published in a special edition of EyeEm magazine for distribution worldwide.
There is, however, only one top prize: the coveted EyeEm Photographer of The Year title, which will see a single talent bagging flights to Berlin to attend Berlin Photo Week, where they will teach a workshop. They'll also receive mentoring from renowned industry photographers, boosting their career, and will become EyeEm ambassador for the next 12 months.

The categories are as follows:
The Architect — capturing architecture, spaces, lines, and angles.
The Creative — concentrating on innovative edits and composition.
The Great Outdoors — beautiful vistas, diverse wildlife, landscapes, and adventure.
The Fashion Photographer — images that celebrate the blend of fashion, art, and photography.
The Photojournalist — encompassing the power of visual storytelling in an image-oriented world.
The Portraitist — capturing a subject's authentic mood and emotion in one shot.
The Still Life Photographer — making art out of inanimate subject matter.
The Street Photographer — a look at everyday life and society.
The Traveler — showing the world through a personal exploration of the world.
Submissions are open until July 31. Finalists will be announced in September, with the winners to follow in October. Last year, EyeEm received over 590,000 submissions from more than 88,000 applicants. For your chance to enter and kickstart your photography career, head on over to EyeEm.
Will you enter this year's competition? Let us know in the comments.
Next, we talked to IKEA design head Marcus Engman about adidas, OFF-WHITE, and millennial living.
