Cristiano Ronaldo Signs $140 Million Deal to Play for Juventus

Following multiple reports, it is now confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo is leaving Real Madrid to play for Italian football club Juventus. According to The Guardian, the Italian club agreed to a €100m ($117m USD) fee for the Portuguese forward with Real Madrid. Ronaldo, meanwhile, will receive a salary of €30m (roughly $35m USD) each year over the course of his four-year contract.

Ronaldo was a member of Real Madrid FC for nine years, netting 451 goals in 438 games to become the club's top scorer in history. He also helped the team win 16 titles, including four European Cups, three of which were consecutive, and four in the last five seasons. Individual achievements while playing for Real include four Gold Balls, two The Best, and three Gold Boots, among other awards.
"Today, Real Madrid wants to express its gratitude to a player who has proved to be the best in the world and who has marked one of the brightest times in the history of our club and world football," the team released in a statement. "Beyond the conquered titles, the trophies achieved and the triumphs achieved in the playing fields during these 9 years, Cristiano Ronaldo has been an example of dedication, work, responsibility, talent and improvement."
Most recently, Ronaldo and Portugal were knocked out of the 2018 World Cup by Uruguay.
