Editor's Notes: After revamping the Air Jordan 1 for FW18, London-based menswear designer Feng Chen Wang now debuts her forthcoming SS19 collection. With the designer continuing her exploration of human connection, "half" is the word of the season, as it appears in text on baseball caps. In addition, two items of clothing merge to become one throughout the collection, as shirts are draped on top of one another, while jackets made in collaboration with Levi's, are layered too. Additionally, jeans incorporate additional legs melded to them, while shoes such as an iteration of Converse's Chuck Taylor All Star, features two pairs cut up and spliced together. Furthermore, the collection is solidified with suits, shirts, new outerwear styles, such as trench coats and T-shirts with panel details, along with accessories like bags and jewelry take the form of hands, with some holding hands. It'a also worth noting that SS19 sees the introduction of the Feng Chen Wang women, the female counterpart to her male character. In addition, Wang explores temperatures throughout the human body through PVC body pieces that refer to different emotions and the area they heat, and in hypercolor, with the coats serving to illustrate this effect. With the majority of the palette consisting of black, white and grey tones, shades of hot pink and cool blue also highlight the collection, as it symbolizes Feng Chen Wang's yin and yang with love and hate, happiness and sadness, day and night, summer and winter.
