Instagram's Favorite Sunscreen Is Sold Out — Here Are Your Next Best Options

You always want what you can't have — especially when it comes to beauty products. That's why we're getting the inside scoop from your favorite retailers on what's selling out right now, how to sign up for waitlists, and where to go to find the next best thing. Because if everyone's buying it, you know it has to be good.
From a young age, I've always had a very particular summer skin-care routine. Back then, it went something like this: After lunch (almost always a menu of macaroni and cheese or Ellio's pizza), I'd change into my bathing suit, collect all the pool toys I could find, and then wait for my grandmother on the pool deck. I wasn't allowed to so much as step into the pool until she slapped sunscreen from the top of my forehead right down to my toes. By the time the process was over, I looked like someone had just dipped my entire four-feet-and-one-inch body into a bowl of queso fundido. But I was safe — at least, that's what my grandmother told me.
Eventually, like most other adults, I learned how to apply my own sunscreen. I even learned how to research, browse, and choose some over others based on SPF levels, chemical ingredients, and pore-clogging potential. And by the time I grew out of my Coppertone's Water Babies formula, I moved on to sunscreen consistencies besides goopy creams — especially when it came to my face. Now, I prefer solid sunscreen, which I can stuff into my bag and roll on my nose, ears, and forehead any time my 80 minutes of protection are up.
What's more, I recently found a favorite in Supergoop's Glow Stick Sunscreen with SPF 50. It's solid, travel-friendly, and uniquely formulated with a non-greasy dry oil that hydrates my skin while it protects. Apparently I'm not the only person who enjoys this particular form of SPF; in fact, it's entirely sold out at Sephora (and continues to sell out) every time I go to stock up on some more.
Fortunately, there are plenty of alternatives available at Sephora to hold you over until this buzzy formula is finally back in stock. All the best, ahead.

Sort of like a hybrid between the RMS Living Luminizer and your dermatologist's favorite sunscreen, this dry-oil stick SPF is your new summer go-to. While it leaves behind a noticeable glow, it won't clog your pores or feel progressively greasier throughout the day.
Supergoop!, $25, available at Sephora
Thanks to avocado and blackcurrant seed oil, and sugar, which acts as a natural humectant, this sunscreen stick packs a ton of hydration in a teeny tiny tube. Bonus: We know firsthand that it won't melt in the sun — no matter how many hours you spend napping on the beach.
Fresh, $25, available at Sephora
Committed to oxybenzone-free sunscreen this summer? Try this mineral option from Coola. Some mineral formulas tend to feel a bit heavier on the skin and can leave behind some noticeable residue, but this coral-safe formula still manages to protect your skin for up to 80 minutes without sacrificing an entire underwater ecosystem.
Coola, $26, available at Sephora
Oil-free, water-resistant, and derm-approved, this mineral sunscreen from MDSolarSciences is your safest bet if you're doing anything other than laying on a towel and reading this summer. It's so good, we'd recommend keeping one in every bag.
MDSolarSciences, $18, available at Sephora
This solid stick version of a longtime fave is TSA-friendly, easy on the skin (hydrating and noncomedogenic), and is perfect for wearing under foundation.
Shiseido, $28, available at Sephora
Obviously the gold packaging on this sunscreen makes us feel rich — but that's not the only reason we love it. We're also big fans of its shape; rounded like a lip balm, you can get in the areas of your face (around your nose, above your lips) that other sticks tend to miss.
Amorepacific, $40, available at Sephora
