We Followed Mandy Moore To Paris Couture — & It Was A Dream

If we can glean anything from this year's Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, it's that Hollywood celebs have mastered the romantic French-girl aesthetic — or, at least their L.A.-based glam squads have it down. Though there were many memorable couture moments, Mandy Moore just might have topped them all with three days of stunning beauty looks that turned heads at every single show. And it's no wonder that the This Is Us star's glam was on-point, because she brought along her hair-and-makeup team turned BFFs, Ashley and Jenn Streicher (two thirds of the famous Striiike Salon sisters). Together, the trio flawlessly planned and executed every jaw-dropping moment to a T. Day 1 For Ronald Van Der Kemp's early-morning show, the Streicher sisters wanted to give Moore a soft beauty look that would contrast with her structural, cobalt ensemble. "I just happened to bring this Make Up For Ever palette full of bright beautiful eyeshadow colors that I don't often get to use," says Jenn of Moore's standout blue shadow moment. "I was really inspired by the electric blue top Mandy was wearing, and that bow in the back was just icing on the cake." Jenn dusted blue shadow over her lids and kept the rest of her makeup minimal. "I used a nude matte lip, Laura Mercier's velour matte in Vibe, and just a bit of Hourglass tinted brow gel through the eyebrows," she says. Photo: Courtesy of the Streicher Sisters. Ashley tucked Moore's hair loosely to one side to emphasize her top's bow detail. "We gave her soft, barely-there, brushed out waves," says Ashley. "To get the perfect texture, I used the Rene Furterer Styling Vegetal Mousse and blew her hair out with a small round brush to make soft waves, then brushed them and finished with the Rene Furterer Vegetal strong-hold hairspray." Think minimalist neutrals, zero frills, and black strappy stilettos — times three. Photo: Courtesy of the Streicher Sisters. Jenn wanted this look to emphasize Moore's natural beauty. "I used my favorite foundation, Cle de Peau The Foundation, the cool neutral tones in Dior's new Backstage eye shadow palette, and just a simple lip balm, the By Terry rose balm, on her lips," she says. "Think early 90's supermodel, slick back bun, all face," says Ashley of her inspiration, adding that the process was about making the finish super polished. "I misted her hair with Christophe Robin's rose spray and started brushing it all back tight with a boar bristle brush by Y.S. Park," she says. She gathered the hair at the nape of her neck, and slathered on Tancho wax styling balm for extra sheen and hold. "Tancho is also ideal for keeping any curly flyaways around the face nice and tight and pinned down," Ashley adds. Photo: Courtesy of the Streicher Sisters. "Once, everything was pulled back in the low pony, I wrapped the tail tight into a clean, shiny bun, cinching it together with a clear Kitsch gummy elastic so you couldn't see it," says Ashley, pictured here with Moore. Photo: Courtesy of the Streicher Sisters. Day 2 The next day, Moore wore a jaw-dropping Schiaparelli gown to the label's couture show. The vibrant color of the dress dictated a soft pink makeup look with touchable hair spilling down her back. Photo: Courtesy of the Streicher Sisters. "I think this was my favorite look," says Jenn, who used pink makeup shades on the eyes, cheeks, and lips to tie everything together. "I used the baby pink pink shade of Glossier's Lidstar shadow over the entire eye, and also softly layered a cooler, neutral eyeshadow from Dior underneath her eye. Then, I added lots of mascara, Diorshow, on top and bottom lashes, and a pop of pink on her cheeks with the Hourglass Ambient blush in cool pink." "To keep her hair soft but still strong, we gave her a deep side-part, but kept the finish nice and sleek," explains Ashley. "I blew her hair out with Davines milk spray and a flat boar bristle brush, and [went over her] front pieces with the T3 SinglePass flatiron." Ashley smoothed a bit of the Tancho stick on both sides, then clipped her front pieces behind her ears with bobby pins. Photo: Courtesy of the Streicher Sisters. Christian Dior followed the Schiaparelli show, so it required a rushed quick change. "I took down her eyeshadow a bit and added a beautiful teal green gel liner, it was a jade shade by YSL," says Jenn. With the liner as the focus, Jenn dabbed on a bit of By Terry rose balm, for "softness and shine without too much emphasis on the lips." Photo: Courtesy of the Streicher Sisters. "When Mandy arrived back from Schiaparelli, I misted her all over with EVO Mister Fantastic spray to re-wet and re-texturize her clean, straight hair," explains Ashley. "I let that air dry, to release a bit of her own natural texture and wave. Then, I went through and gave her more texture by spritzing the Rene Furterer Vegetal Texture spray on the hair before wrapping it around a 1-inch barrel T3 convertible iron." To give her updo that undone, effortless finish the French are known for, Ashley secured a few mini chignon buns in the back, while keeping the front curls piece-y and delicate. "I pulled some pieces out around the front and around the hairline and sprayed a bit more texture spray to give it that airy and messy texture." Photo: Courtesy of the Streicher Sisters. "Because the dress was such a shimmering look, dripping in Chopard diamonds, we knew we wanted to have a makeup moment, with a bold brow and a glossy red lip," says Ashley. "With all of that going on, I wanted to keep her hair clean and sleek with a tight ballerina bun — but, adult style." She gathered Moore's hair into a ponytail at the top of her head and brushed the tail with shine serum before braiding it and wrapping it tightly around the base. "I filled in her brow a little heavier than usual and kept everything else really clean. I used a Charlotte Tilbury red lipstick with a Glossier lip gloss over the top."
